I walked to and fro
From door to door
Hoping for hope
To peep from some trough

I left it at midnight
For it was sleep time
But it promised to return
With a cadenced thump

The wait was long
As the road was vast
The forests too deep
Thus Hope must recede

Hope seemed delusional
To let go the illusion
For it was just a lost soul
In search of a cadenced thump!
